UML?

Does anyone have experience with Unified Modeling Language? My client is rumbling about it and my instinct is to reject it utterly as a cure-all that cures nothing--I don't even like frameworks. On the other hand, I might be able to milk the client for more hours to subsidize me as I learn about a relatively interesting concept.

Is it worth it to learn UML or not? Also, how easy is it to proceed from UML to actual PHP code?

If you use a UML tool that will generate PHP, then the transition is pretty easy. Note however that this code generation essentially is just the creation of your classes; it does not generate any of the logic within the methods, it just creates the class declaration along with any class variable and/or method declarations which are included in the UML.

I think goldbug used to use it quite a lot (although haven't seen him around for a while). ArgoUML is quite a good tool.

I dunno, it seems a nice idea, but I've never got my head round it.
