php server send data to MIDlet (mobile application)

Dear all,

Wish to get your advices while i m not that sure how to do it...
I've got a MIDlet registered with a port (says : 8181), number : 4477001
I got my mobile IP as well.., says 127.0.0.1

I wish to know how could I push any data from my PHP API to MIDlet.
use CURL or file() will do?

but should i send to mobile ip or mobile number
1. http://127.0.01:8181 (ip addrss)
2. sms://4477001:8181 (mobile number)
which on is correct?

127.0.0.1 is a loop-back address which means "This Machine". So the mobile IP you have is not the one that would be published to the internet for someone (or some site) to connect to. Rather it's for if your phone wanted to send a request to itself, it's the IP address it would use.

Thanks for the response.
127.0.0.1 is just the example 🙂
my mobile ip is 60.x.x.x

So I will have to create a 'listener' on the midlet to receive any incoming data on that port right?

but one thing..when i tried to type the address on my browser:
http://60.x.x.x:8181, it would show:
'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'

Means i couldnt simply test on the browser?

If you want to see what's really happening when you try to connect to some port, use netcat. You can connect to the port and see what the response is. Of course, you'd have to know what the service at that port expects as a request (http request or other).
