Good PHP hosting

I was wondering if someone could recommend a highly reliable php hosting service that offers: (its for my new site www.sharedigest.com/index1.php which Im expecting alot of traffic for - hopefully anyway!)

high, reliable bandwidth (and uptime)
higly reliable ftp access
CPanel
GOOD customer support

Looking to spend up to $40/month.

Im with Lypha and while its always been OK, I find that I am having ftp issues now (especially with subdomains)

any help would be much appreciated,

Search the Echo Lounge for good PHP hosts, there is already a huge thread on this.

And might I ask why you need cPanel? Plesk, cPanel, Custom panel, DirectAdmin, Webmin... it shouldn't matter what control panel you use, they all do the same stuff. If you have no good reason to use it (and by good reason, I mean more than Fantastico and transferring sites), then you might look to any host.

I've used VPS, Dedicated and shared. For Dedicated (unmanaged) I'd suggest LayeredTech as a good provider (while not the only provider). For VPS, just choose one. I've used JaguarPC for a few months before I got a dedicated server. For shared hosting I've used Host Rocket, Host Gator, and Servage. I personally lean more towards Servage as a host, but that's personal preference.

I like Bluehost, although they had issues with cPanel in the past, I am sure that has now been worked out. Bluehost is the most reliable I have used.

Why? Just add the domain to your already active account.... I have 5 served off one account 😉

this is exactly what i was doing with lypha, and started getting ftp problems...
at $8.95/month, im not too fussed about a seperate host, + get a new domain...

i was looking into servage... but read too many horror stories, and at the time their ToS wasn't to my liking...

at hostgator, i can use what i need, if i need more, i can go to a good dedicated server if need be. i'm on a reseller server now and have been really happy, their support is great

can I ask what it was in their ToS that you didn't like?

There are a few parts I can disagree with; however, I don't run any sites that are "Digged" so I'm not really worried. Here are a few parts I can see that stand out:

Servage TOS wrote:
Bandwidth and Disk Usage
[...] Customers are able to use 120 Gb daily totaling 3600 Gb in a normal 30 day month. A 28 day month provides 3360 Gb transfer and a 31 day month will allow a total of 3720 Gb transfer. Sites that consume over our daily limit on a regular basis period will be disabled and client must look into another Web hosting provider to accommodate those high bandwidth needs. [...] If Servage takes any corrective action under this section, Customer shall not be entitled to a refund of any fees paid in advance prior to such action. The default email inbox holds emails for up to 180 days, sent 30 days and deleted (trash) 7 days. Email subfolders are not automaticly cleaned up as this is the responsibility of the client.

I guess from that section it could seem that they don't want your site to grow; however, as what is typically called an "overseller" they're just protecting themselves. And honestly, if you're really going to use that much in resources, you really should have a dedicated server or cluster of servers to meet your demands.
