I have to build a search tool that will search through approx. 10 million records. The search will work on a 10 digit number or keyword depending on what the user wants. What would be the best method of setting up the database? I was thinking of setting up with all 10 million records in one table with the number and keyword fields indexed.
I am running MySQL 5 and PHP 5 on a xeon 2ghz server with Slackware Linux.
The ultimate goal is to have very fast query response times.
