[RESOLVED] get data from 2 tables joined on usertype

i want to
select * from users and username from register
join on users.usertype=register.usertype
plzzzz help

Uh... what? Why would PHP have anything to do with the syntax of the MySQL query?

this is the sentence
$query_registered = "SELECT users.userID,users.usertype,register.username FROM users,register
where(users.usertype = register.usertype)";

Right, and you don't need the parenthesis in there, and other than that it looks like the query should work.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, what is the error message returned by the SQL server?

EDIT2: Actually, are you even getting an error at all? I ran your query without error and it returned data correctly... perhaps the query doesn't do what you thought it would or you don't have the correct data in your tables?

ok i removed the parentheses but it gave me
Query is empty
but its not!!!

and i have 2 tables
users contins userID and usertype
and register contains id,usertype,username
ok,i just wanted to make a page that can show the users and their type(admin or normal users) if u see that i must add anything else ,plz tell me

Don't forget to mark this thread resolved.

(In case someone else is browsing this thread looking for a solution, note that the variable name used to define the query wasn't the same as the variable name in the mysql_query() call.)
