How to get rid of .php at end of url

Hey guys Im a complete idiot when it comes to php. I was wondering how do I get rid of .php at the end of the urls in my website.

For example: I have hereismywebsite.com/something.php

I want to change it to where its like hereismywebsite.com/something

I hope you understand what I am trying to say. I just made a website a couple of days ago so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

not sure if it can be done in htacces but ususally you just call the file index.php and save it into a new folder.

example.com (folder)
^index.php (main page)
something(folder)
^index.php (this used to be something.php)

You can do one of two things: 1) URL Rewrite to rewrite "/something" to "/something.php", or 2) enable MultiViews (assuming your webserver is Apache) so that you don't need file extensions in the URL.

Both of these options can be implemented using a .htaccess file.
