[RESOLVED] Getting spaced out data from table

Hi,

I have a table with a field called groups.
Within this field there are several values that I need to get out one by one not as a whole. The data is stored like so:

id groups
1 g1 g2 g7 g5
2 g4 g9 g7 g1
3 g1 g7 g19 g23

$directory = "SELECT * FROM ecs_buildings WHERE id LIKE '1'";
$directoryResults = mysql_query($directory);
while ($directoryRow = mysql_fetch_array ($directoryResults)){
	$areas = $directoryRow["groups"];
	echo"Area Type: $areas";
}

The above echoes g1 g2 g7 g5.

How could i echo the results so they look like this:
g1
g2
g7
g5

Use [man]explode/man, then [man]implode/man with a <br />

Incidentally, your database design is almost certainly wrong. You should not be storing various groups into a single field, but rather should use another table, or at least store them multiple times in this table.

I couldn't agree more laserlight thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately i didnt put the table together and it has been populated with data for the last 2 years this way.

So i need to get the data like so.

I will have alook at explode and implode, thanks for the help.
