Quick Thumbnails!

Whats the quickest way of creating thumbnails from an image, then when the user clicks the thumbnail, the full size version of the image is displayed?

Of course, that depends on your definition of "quickest", since that method will be the slowest in terms of internet transmission time. :p

PS: If you do a forum search on "thumbnail", you'll find a lot of matches.
