Question : Generating download tickets ? ( protect from leeching by exipred-download)

Hello ,
I want to make a special download link that will expire after X days from generating the link for it.
The case is : I want to allow my members to download stuffs in members area , to which they only can access. either via download link that will expire after 3 days or so , or by not providing a direct link from my server while this link is dynamic ..

Are you asking for help or just telling us your desires?

You would need to create a page that searches the database for a code previously generated that maps to a URL and redirects. You would need to run a cron job to delete the records regularly that are older than 3 days.

yes i'm asking for your help and how could I achieve this via PHP .

I think this sec. is for newbies questions , my thread subject contained "question" word as well . 🙂

About the script , it requires registration ( opt-in in their mail list), and it seems also that this is not what I need.,

With out a database you could use md5 functions readily available to encrypt the expiration timestamp with a secret key. In your download script compare the decrypted timestamp to the current time. This would save you from having to deal with setting up cron and give you to the second expiration on the links.

I think Kudose's original point was that you made no effort at a direct question. Judging by the vagueness of an actual problem we assumed you were getting at design theory.
