MSSQL query returns clipped varchar, but I can't run a search on a Text field.

I'm building a page where the user enters a keyword, the query runs it against some fields, and useful FAQs come up.

Trouble is, the VARCHAR database fields are returned truncated results. So I swapped them to TEXT fields. Now the full contents will appear. Only I can't run LIKE comparisons on the TEXT fields. Please help!

That's unusual as there should not be any such truncation unless the max length was exceeded. It probably depends on the version (and it is no longer even called MSSQL anymore, from what I understand), but I think MSSQL has a max varchar length of 8000.

The maxlength has not been exceeded. I've read about this problem elsewhere, but the solution they give is just to change the field to TEXT.

I'm running PHP Version 5.2.1, if that helps.

Have you considered using fulltext indexing on your table?
