I'll be staying safe at home tonight, letting the loonies and alcoholics have their fun while I avoid any chance of encountering them on the roads. Tomorrow for New Year's Day I'll be getting together at a friend's house with a bunch of mutual friends and extended family, then stuff my face silly with good food (roast pork, sauerkraut, black-eyed peas, potatoes, home-made bread, etc., etc., plus probably half a dozen desserts) and watch some college football. Sure, it's boring, but I'd rather spend sober quality time with good friends than drunken stupor time with anyone.
But to each his/her own. Just do me a favor and call a cab or bring a designated driver if you're going out partying tonight, as I want to see you all back here again throughout 2008.
