I'm currently doing research into the viability or not of creating a social network. I presume this is a huge task, but I'm hoping if broken down into managable chucks I can create it over the coming months. I would much rather create this bespoke then to use an off the shelf solution as I want to create many unique services which I suspect are not available otherwise.
So my first question is does anyone have any general technical advice for creating such a script using php?
Is php the right choice for this?
How would uploading/displaying of media be handled?
What should I be aware of hosting wise?
