[RESOLVED] Passing URL / Var

Hello,

the subject does not clearly say what I am asking.

Any how, I have three files, queries.php, query_form.php, and process.php

the first one shows results of the db irs_rawdata, you click a link which takes you to the form which as all the information filled in, then you select a submit button - accept, table, reject depending on which one you do is what process.php does, this all works great, now on my process.php script I have it show a link to go back to queries.php but I don't know how to get it to keep the same keyword so it will show you the same screen as before (side note, it does not show at that time the one you just accepted or rejected

any ideas on how I can do this?

You could set the POST value in the URL of your back link and get the data from GET

i.e.

$_POST['keyword'] = 123

Link: echo '<a href="index.php?keyword='.urlencode($_POST['keyword']).'">Back</a>';

Back page: $keyword = urldecode($_GET['keyword']);

Hope that makes sense and helps.

so do I put this into query_form.php and then call it when on the process.php

right now queries.php gets the $_GET['keyword']
so it would be queries.php?keyword=dog
now in the query_form.php I would add

If it is encoded in the url it is a GET value. POST values are included in the headers i believe.

In query_form.php you would add something like

if(isset($_POST['keyword'])){
  // user posted information to get here
  $keyword = $_POST['keyword'];
} elseif(isset($_GET['keyword'])){
  // user clicked back to get here
  $keyword = $_GET['keyword'];
}
// do normal stuff with keyword here

Alternatively, you could just use $_REQUEST['keyword'].

Or, for a totally different approach, you could use a [man]session[/man] to store data in and transport it between scripts.

could you show me how I would do this, I am still trying to figure another problem I have out :-( any how thanks for your input

How to do what? Use sessions? They're quite easy; simply call [man]session_start/man at the top of the pages you wish to access session data on. Then, store/retrieve data from the $_SESSION superglobal array just as you would for POST'ed data.
