Making a comments script

Hello, I wanted to make sure I was on the right track before starting to make a new script.

I want to make it so people can post comments on articles on my site. But, I also want people to be able to reply to other comments and replies to be posted under the comment they are replying to.

I know I need to link the replies to their parent comment through their comment id's in my table.

My question is if I should have one table called comments, or is it any better to have one table with all original comments and then another table callled replies?

I can't think of any advantage to having two tables, but it might be more efficient "?".

I would have it in one table and have a column called reply, if this is blank then place normally - if it contains an id place below that message.
