JOIN function using remote connect

hi im currently doing this project where i need to output a report I need to join some tables to get my result but the only problem is i need some data on another table and on another system on a different server, I'm wondering is there any way to go around this? I'm thinking about using remote connection but I have no idea on how and is it even possible to join different tables in different dbs? I've been googling for some time but found no direct solution to this, hope some can share some opinion or share some codes who have done this before.Thanks

I think in short the answer is no.

If the tables were in seperate databases on the same server it wouldnt be a problem. But different tables in different databases on different servers being able to be linked to my knowledge is not possible.

A real bodge solution would be to read in from one DB connection the data you need, then within the other connection create a temporary table to link to the other table required.

This would take some time and I wouldnt really recommend it.

Assuming that the table on the remote server does not need to be changed on the local server, you could set the 2 servers up using replication with the remote server as the master and the local server as the slave. You can configure replication to work for just the one table.
