[RESOLVED] RewriteRules

Hi Everyone

Im trying to get a rewriterule working but it doesnt do anything, id be greatful if anyone can help please, mod_rewrite IS enabled.
so far i have the following

from url : http://www.mysite.co.uk/news.php?newsid=1
To Rewritten url: http://www.mysite.co.uk/news1.htm

Code im using in my .htaccess file:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule news(.*)\.htm$ /news.php?newsid=$1

Theres some missing bits in the rewriterule. The correct one is:

RewriteRule ^news([0-9]+)\.htm$ /news.php?newsid=$1 [L]

I narrowed down the id as being a number.

Well it should, I tested that myself. Did it give you any error in logs or browser?

No it doesnt give any errors at all just the goes to the original url
