mod_rewrite issue

Hi Everyone

I have a RewriteRule in place to rewrite the following ..

From: http://www.mysite.com/news.php?newsid=1
To: http://mysite.com/news/subject/1.html

however is there a way i can get rid of the 1.html at the end ?

If the subject in your database is unique (like the newsid) then you remove it, but you propably have to rewrite the code inside news.php

another way is to use links like
mysite.com/news/1_subject that redirects in the background to news.php?newsid=1
