holding last know location

Hello,

I am proud to say that I am getting some of this stuff more and more, I have been able to create my search page so that if there is a search string then it displays search page with results and if not it gets the main search page, I have created a system to check if person is log in or not

now with all that said, I am now trying to figure out how I can have it when a person signs in it returns them back to the page they was on and if it was a search page with results put them back to that also if it they are on page 3 of the results

Any ideas would be great!

I think I would use one of the $_SERVER var to do this but am not sure how to use that.

also when I know which one to use do I just put that in to the header("location:$_SERVER ... "); thing?

so far this is what I did

I used the $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] in the sign out and I used this in the sign in form and then grabbed it in the processing script

any other ideas to do this better?
