File Locations

Hi, for a while ive been having trouble with this, and ive finally come to the point were i need to no.

Is there any variable or way to create a variable that creates a constant place for the root folder.

Basically i want the same file used in several locations and i just cant seem to get it to work :@:@:@

require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/includes/filename.php';
