PHP 4 or 5

I just started learning PHP, so this is probably obvious, but how do I know if I'm using PHP 4 or 5?

PHP 5 is mostly backwards compatible with PHP 4. Just read books and tutorials that claim to teach PHP 5, and ultimately you can consult the PHP manual.

I saw

PHP has announced that PHP 4 will no longer be supported beginning January 1, 2008. They ask people to start migrating over to PHP 5 now.

and I was wondering how it would effect me.

You closed by other thread because you misunderstood what I was asking and didn't even give me a chance to explain. It is a PHP related programming question because it is PHP programming. The question was not about Wikipedia task force setup like you thought it was. I tried to set up a task force by using PHP programming like the ones found on Wikipedia made using PHP programming on my personal wiki that I made using PHP programming.

Basically, you just need to learn PHP 5, not PHP 4, unless you will be maintaining PHP 4 scripts.

It is a PHP related programming question because it is PHP programming. The question was not about Wikipedia task force setup like you thought it was.

Next time do not use such a misleading title, and please post a specific question obviously PHP related. It looked like you were asking for configuration help, or even just link dropping, heheh.

Probably a minimum post requirement before new users can send messages. I believe the problem has been reported before, but apparently it is still not amended.

I thought I did. I tried some new code, obviously I didn't know something, and now I'm asking for help.

Thank you. I just realized my brain was running on half empty, half a tank ago. So I really appreciate the help.
