realistically, sites like bestbuy, amazon, and so fourth are out of your range as a novice programmer. Specially when it comes to payment gateways, transaction servers, and ssh, product catalog and a host of other issues, it can be quite overwhelming.
Of course, i'm assuming you dont want to build an amazon.com, with that said, it's a good project to learn about 3rd party payment gateways, api's and some basic php/mysql, you can develop a good and simple site.
As far as tutorials, read up on 3rd party payment gateways like paypal and their api's. A PHP / Mysql book will teach you just that, PHP and MySQL.
Meaning, you cant learn PHP and Mysql for the sole purpose of building a store, it's not quite how it works. Its almost exactly like a language, you cant learn english for the sole purpose of singing / reading a single song. You kinda have to get yoru basics in there to make sense of it all.
If you are really invested in your store and believe you have a solid idea, it might be worth involving professionals with experience to make sure you have a quality site behind you.
Have fun and good luck.
