help me plz for selecting multiple values for checkboxes

dear all,
i m the new user in this forum.can anybody help me for the following issue..

I want to display the values in the form of check boxes..values sould be from the database directly.
I want to display alphabatically .when I click on like 's' ..all the values sholud display start from 's'.

& when I select mutilpe values ,they should be add in the database...similarly for delete.

help me as soon as possible..

You'll want to use "LIKE" in MySQL.
