[RESOLVED] How to search between two dates using mysql or php

Hello,

I am stuck from few days. I am doing some search in which my requirment is to search between specific dates.
Like user can put start date and then end date. Once submit then it should find result between these two dates.

How it is easy to implement and what mysql query I need to search thanks.

I dont know about mysql now, but about 2-3 years ago I tried searching like this query and it wont work, that is why i am asking this time again,

select from table where date1>2001-01-05 And date2< 2001-02-05.

(something similar to this but cant remember exactly because it is about 2-3 years old i have tested)

will above query will work.
Or if someone know proper query which work well and quick too.

Is there mysql special function which does this job quick. thanks

How mysql work in case of dates.

Like in number if we say Less than 20 then mysql only take values which are less than 20.

But in case of date, the situation is different. How mysql calculates date which are less than 2001-01-2005. The date is not a general number and i dont think this is gonna work.

Is there any function for dates. thanks

Try this:

SELECT * FROM your_table WHERE '2001-01-05' BETWEEN date1 AND date2;

Note that your field type needs to BE a date or timestamp type field. Not plain text / varchar... Seems obvious, but it is a common beginner's mistake to try and store dates / time in varchar.

Thanks for all. I think the date field mistake i have done 2-3 years ago. But this time I fixed it and query is working fine.
