have new phpII forum - having trouble

hey guys, glad i found this site, hope i can get some help!

I started a forum for metal detecting, everything started out great - i dloaded the forum through my host, was very easy to add what i needed, friend added chat that was great but from the beginning we couldnt keep ANONYMOUS out, finally about a week ago had 3 people in our chat, under anonymous that were very rude and nasty, had to take down chat, since then i cant get any help getting another chat up - would somehow like to find help, when it comes to all the codes and where to add, i am clueless, and i dont know of a good chat, would love a secure chat that when you click on it, seperate box comes up so the forum is still there... any suggestions? help?

2nd problem - on a daily basis i get spammers who register and post porn in my form, any suggestions on what to do? for now i am just deleting posts, deleting there name and banning there IP but every day there is atleast one.

I am unsure of phpII is - from a quick google search I see an IRC frontend, is this what you are using?.

If you mean phpBB2, the forum software, there are generally SPAM mods that you can use. I just typed "phpbb2 spam" in google, and quickly found this one.

I have not used it so I can not and will not speak for its effectiveness, however it may be worth looking into, just be sure (as the website suggests) to clearly read the Read_me_first.txt file.

As goes for the chat, you have many options, the majority of the Website Chat scripts are commercial, however If you google around, you will find one.

Keep your mind open and you may find some Flash Chat scripts, you should look for the ability to "Kick / Ban", this will allow you to disallow specific IP addresses, which isn't perfect, but will annoy the perp's enough.
