Limiting Show Databases

In a MySQL database, how do I limit the query Show Databases to only display what certain databases.

What do I mean? I have a user called reader in my database. When I call the SHOW Databases query I get the following results

• information_schema

• InfoStuff

• mysql

I only want the query to return

• InfoStuff

Remove their global permissions (all of them) and only give them permissions on that specific database.

That did not seem to work, I removed all the global privileges of the user and granted him SELECT access to InfoStuff but mysql is still finding the other two tables.

Are you using the root account?
just out of curiosity and completely none of my business but why would you want to limit view tables?

Nope I am pretty sure that I am using a different account. Then again I am using phpMyAdmin to do this, though I don't see why that would make a difference.

I am doing this as sort of a method for creating a hierarchy for a website, using the database level to build the top level navigation.

yeah try it outside of phpadmin see what you get and post it back here.
You could if anything create a master db table and list viewable tables in it, that way you can have more flexibility in your navigation. Since you wont have to worry about db manipulation once the site is live
