[RESOLVED] $_REQUEST preferences

Hopefully this makes sense. I would like to know what the $REQUSET variable favours - for instance if there was a post variable and a get variable with the same name what would the value of $REQUEST be? The value of the get or post value?

Also is there a way to change the preference order?

Thanks very much for that, that was what I was looking for but I can't find in this how I would go about changing the order from something like "EGPCS" to "SCPGE"?

Change it in php.ini if you have access, or if running on Apache you can set it locally in a .htaccess file.

.htaccess:

php_value variables_order "SCPGE"

Unfortunately I don't have access to the ini, but I tried the .htaccess method and I got an internal server error 500.

I just copied exactly the code above. Where have I gone wrong?

Use $POST, $GET, etc. as applicable, instead of $_REQUEST?

That's not entirely true (or even true at all). It's more likely that PHP was installed as a CGI binary rather than an ISAPI module.

This problem is a prime example why I never use $_REQUEST (nor do I ever recommend anyone else use it).
