[RESOLVED] email comes in marked as read

Hi, i'm learning all about emailing forms using php.. i've got it all working nicely now however when it comes into my account its already marked as read..

is that normal??

oh, and a side note, it says i can't delete them too..
"the IMAP command 'UID COPY' failed" :queasy:
but thats not so important at this stage i'm sure..

Which mail client do you have (and which mail server) ?

i'm using 'Mail' the standard mail client on a Mac (OS = Leopard)
and mail server is harrison.joyent.us where the website is hosted.

does this help??..

Sounds more like an issue with your mail setup than with PHP. And by server, he means what actual software server is running, not where it's hosted.

the IMAP support of the Leopard mail client seems to be badly broken to some degree.

One of the problems seems to be the fact that the mail client is case sensitive when it comes to parsing the response of a mail server.
So it has problems with a response like
OK PERMANENTFLAGS (\answered \flagged \deleted \draft \seen *)
and expects
OK PERMANENTFLAGS (\answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft \Seen *)

The problem that you can't delete a message with the OS X mail client seems to be related to the stuff above and to another problem where the mail client doesn't send a neccessary command to finally commit the copy/delete command(s).
