Form data

I am new to PHP and need some help please.

What I want to do is have a form completed by a user and when they submit it, to a new page, we ask them to confirm it, if correct they click CONFIRM button then the data goes into the database, if incorrect need to send them back to a page with the form again but want their selection to appear in that form. Hope this makes sense.

I have done most of this and have to buttons one say AMEND the other CONFIRM. The AMEND goes back to the first page which has the form on but I cannot get the users selection to appear in the drop down menus so they have select it all over again.

I have been trying to use start_session () but obviously wrongly.

Can anyone help please.

on the first form make the default value for the fields receive the $POST data, so if a field is called "name", make it receive $POST['name'].

example:

<input type="text" name="name" value="<?php echo htmlspecialchars (@$_POST['name']) ?>"/>

then all the fields in the form you put on the confirm page, except you'll change the field type to "hidden"
