Server drops connection (is this my fault??)

Hi all...

I seem to have a problem with my webserver...

When I try to connect (I use Apple Safari) I get an error that helpfully tells me

Safari can’t open the page “[url]http://www.21cv.co.uk”[/url] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later.

This is somewhat troubling to me and I was wondering what could be causing the problem?

I'm currently copying the contents of the site to another server to see if that makes a difference...

I also know that there are some issues with the site and older IE versions (6 and below can't seem to handle it) but I'll fix that when it's not the wrong side of midnight 😉

Oh, and one last thing... if it works fine for everyone but me then I'll be happy 😉

Seems to be working now (11:23am GMT)

2 things:

1) Not advisable to openly publish your phpinfo().
2) I think I see your problem. You're hosting with Fasthosts...

Thanks for that, piersk... phpinfo is now removed 🙂

And as for the fasthosts thing... I'm not having any problems with any of my sites on their servers (I have several that I use regularly, on different servers in their network, this is the only one that seems to have any problems at all.)

Edit: It seems to be worst after 21:30 GMT... about when I posted yesterday.

Assume that I'm a complete idiot and that I know nothing... what's wrong with FastHosts?

I have two issues with fasthosts. I used to use them, but this issue made me move off them (the guy that runs Bloggerheads is an acquaintance of mine) but then they had other problems which made me glad that I'm not with them any more...

I think in the end it's like anything technical. If it works for you, stick with it. I prefer to have more control over my hosting so I use a VM.
