an odd error

On a website Ive created, wierd characters (  ) will appear above the website. If you look at the source code however my php isn't outputting those characters.

they don't appear all the time either, it's an on and off thing.

What do you guys think this is?

Unicode BOM character.

Use a plain text editor to save your file, or check for options on your current editor to either save as "plain ASCII text" or else if saving as UTF-8 has an option to omit the BOM (byte order mark) character.
