change all data in clumn to same value

hello

i have a database and it includes many tables , there is a table with a column called forsale ..

forsale fields r Y for yes or N for No , i have now about 3000 products for sale , i want to make them all not for sale and preform something ( datavase update ) then turn them forsale again

so i need to change all valuse in table products column forsale to N

i tried

UPDATE `xcart_products` SET `forsale` = N;

and

UPDATE `xcart_products` SET forsale = N;

always the error come

#1054 - Unknown column 'N' in 'field list'

i need to do this to disable products that have been deleted from the product csv sheet , but not yet deleted from the website , about 200 products ,

changing all products to "not for sale " and uploading new csv file in my shopping cart that have the FOR SALE products only will keep the products that i do not have in the csv file "not for sale "

then i will delete all rows that have forsale set to N

please help me as i am trying hard to find a solution

You need to quote the literal value "N":

UPDATE `xcart_products` SET `forsale` = 'N';
