Have you ever filled a PDF form with PHP?

I was asked by a friend to code something for him where he has a PDF form already identified and what he wants is PHP to fill out multiple forms with the same info.

His example was immigration forms where a lot of information is the same, so it would make sense to capture a applicant's name and fill it out in the respective places on all the applications.

My question is, has anyone done this and where should I start?

This sounds like a fairly tricky proposition to me. PHP is capable of manipulating PDF files using libraries like fpdf. What you'll probably need to do is set up some forms where users enter their information and then try to create new versions of those PDF files with the user's data inside it.

Sounds pretty involved to me.
