How to save files to a password protected folder?

Hello,

I want to have a password protected folder that another PHP Script I have
can create and update a file in and to be able to do this without any user
interaction. Is there a way to do this in PHP so the script can transparently
login and do it's thing and then just finishes?

Depends on how the security is implemented. I think, if it is a .htaccess security schema, you can do something like this:

http://username:[e-mail]

This also works for ftp sites:

ftp://username:[e-mail]

If it is a different security schema, you will need to research how to interface with it.
