select option marked as selected

hai friends

i am doing updating page.i am getting input from the user in select field and saved the select value in db.

how can i change the option displayed on the page based on the db value i mean how can i change db value as selected in the select option.. any body help me

you have to load the db value in a variable, and then cycle through your select options and mark the one it matches as selected
