Mass email by our own php programming, or use 3rd party, such as Campaign Monitor, or constantcontact?
We created a tool to send out mass html emails for some web sites we developed and hosted for our clients, email could be well designed, personalized, and dynamically set up from database data etc.
We told our clients they had to be self control following anti-spam rules. So far everything is fine.
But with stricter rule set up in anti-spam today, have mass html emails tools installed in dozens sites we host for our clients, may have disadvantages such as
1) if one client abuse his tool from our server, our server will be banned,
2) Unlike these 3rd party professional mass email sending serivices which they have tools to screen the spam first, and they are whitelisted, our mass emails may get more chances to be banned.
3) 3rd party mass professional email sending services may have other powerful tools. And the cost is becoming cheaper. While using our own mass email sending tools may cost heavy load in our server.
I am thinking about stop offering our own mass email tools to our clients, and suggest our clients using the 3rd party services such as Campaign Monitor, or constantcontact?
My questions are:
1) what is your choice? still offer mass email tools developed by yourself to your clients. Or switch to the 3rd party special mass email services? Looks like it gets cheaper and better and it will not be cost effective for us to develop and update our own tool only for a small number clients who may use it.
2) if 3rd party. I have evaluated two of them, Campaign Monitor, and constantcontact. Do you have experience with them or any other better ones to share?
3) Looks like this is a good service Google might have their eyes on, did any one know if Google will step in and buy someone out and offer this service for us for free like its google anayltics, google mail hosting etc.?
4) Any other opinions and information regarding this issue?
