Mail function windows dedicated server

Hi guys,

I hope someone can point me to a link that can make things clear for me to understand.

Ok so the mail functions does not work on the windows server.
Is there some kind of configuration setting to make it work?

I have herd of pear but i am finding it rather difficult to make sense of the doc's
I know simple php and not a lot about classes.
Is there a basic working example about that i can use to figure it out?

There's also this nice free piece of software....

..which also allows you to authenticate to your smtp server. I use it with my gmail accounts and it works a charm.
