Checkbox search problems

Hey All,

Im trying to write a small search script for a site of mine and am having trouble putting together the SQL statement.

On the search page, i have 4 checkboxes ( artist, dj, label, crew ), 1 text box ( keywords ) which is used for keywords, and 2 dropdown boxes ( 1 for location and the other for genre ).

The problem im having is if someone doesnt check a checkbox it shouldnt be included in the search, and also if nothing is selected in the dropdowns ... they shouldnt be in the search either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can build the search query string based on the form input using .=
So, create a standard query string, $searchquery
Then run some if statements, saying something like
if $_POST['checkbox']
$searchquery .= "AND checkboxcolumn = 'checked' "

Hope that makes sense. You should have your script echo the values of $_POST at first so you can see exactly what the form is sending when you have no values or checkboxes selected. I've had problems in the past where even though nothing was selected, values were being sent.
