is php extensible?

i did not have any knowledge of php, my graduation project will be design site for graduation project management.

as a graduation project , the policy of my college enforce that the language used in the project must be extensible and can be improved later by other and maintainability must be easy

my supervisor advise me to doing with java , or php if it is satisfy that

i searched but i did not get any clear & sure information

and i can not prove it as i did not have any experience with php

can you answer me
and guide me to sites that show the php architecture and the background of it?

What do you mean by "the language used in the project must be extensible and can be improved later by other"?

As in your project is about programming languages? Yet you say "my graduation project will be design site for graduation project management", and "design site" seems to mean "design a website" rather than "implement a compiler" or "extend a programming language".
