Okay, I realize I'm posting on a pro-php board. But you guys have been most helpful in the past to me, and it's the first place I come to with complex questions.
I'm looking to hire someone to develop something for me (don't email, I've already found a few I'm deciding on) but I'm trying to figure out if using php/mysql would be the best choice, or something else, like python.
I'm creating a HUGE database. Let's call is a public rolodex that can be edited by anyone, without signing up. Each listing can have several fields, like name, address, websites, etc. and anyone can edit/add content into each field. Only an admin can create new fields though.
That's pretty much the project, but there will be a lot of features added once I get a bigger budget. So I'm looking to design it to last years, and so I'll never have to worry about losing the data if I decide to switch to a different coding plateau.
What would you guys suggest? php/mysql or something else?
