Advanced text effects

Hi,

After a few days of searching various sites I'm at my wits end on how to do this.

Basically, I need to give a script a string, and an effect and it return an image. The best way to describe what I'm trying to do is something like Word Art in Microsoft word - stuff like make the text a circle, arc the text, make the text shrink away and so on.

Is there a pre-made class/framework for this? Or if not can anyone point me to a good tutorial on how to achieve this?

Have a look on http://www.phpclasses.org/ if you want to find some classes, but to be honest you could make up some nice text effects with the inbuilt image functions in php. The function imageconvolution is good for effects.
