imagegrabscreen(); issues on Windows server.

I am trying to get a screenshot of the dektop on my server but it keeps loading a black image. I have seen this problem before so I allowed apache access to the desktop through manage->services in my computer, but still it outputs a black image.

I have got imagegrabwindow() to work with some programmes but it still isn't always successful.

Is it something to do with me running on Vista?

Most likely, yes.

I'm running Windows XP, and all I did was:

Check the box on the Log On tab in Services that says "Allow this service to interact with the desktop."
Stopped Apache
Started Apache

and I was able to take a screenshot just fine. Did you make sure that you restarted Apache after making this permissions change? If so, all I can say is try to find a way to run Apache with administrator permissions, or just get rid of Vista altogether (I'd personally recommend the latter of the two 🙂).

Ha! Thanks for the help! I've tried restarting Apache, but no joy. I might just set up a server on my other computer. Vista isn't as bad as people make out. I quite like it. 🙂

Anyway One more question. You see when you start a new COM for imagegrabwindow() does the programme load on your desktop or does it load in a separate invisible one (sort of virtual desktop) that you can't see? Thanks.
