mysite.com/username (how?)

Hi PHP friends,

Im looking to create a script that when a new user registers they are given their own page on the site.

For example,
mysite.com/joebloggs, i would also consider... joebloggs.mysite.com

How would I go about this?

Any help, even a pointer towards a tutorial, would be greatly appreciated.

It's more than likely mod_rewrite() masking something like www.mysite.com/viewUser.php?id=2
