help newbie to build a php mailing list subsription script

I'm new to php and the current site I'm building needs an e-mail subscription script.
Does anyone has any guidelines on how to write a script like that?

Its not easy for someone to just write a script for your needs. Your best bet is to literally type into google ''PHP Subscription List' and you get loads of tutorials and examples.
