I have not encountered this in my 6 years of PHP coding (SESSIONS)

Perfectly working application.

All of a sudden sessions stop working.

If I am on page 1 and make a session like

session_start();

$_SESSION['jini']="yes!!!!!";

I can echo the value of session on same page.

When i Go to page 2

and type:

session_start();

echo $_SESSION['jini'];

nothing happens.

All of a sudden the sessions are not persisting from one page to the next.

any insights ?

Do you have session_start() at the beginning of each page?

Yes I do on most pages. I do it so that I can access the $_SESSION variables

is that not correct ?

Yes, you need a session_start() on each and every page that needs to read from or write to the $_SESSION array (and it must occur before any such reading/writing is done). You may want to turn on all error reporting on the page where it's failing, in case something is happening that is causing the session_start() to fail (like output to the browser being generated before session_start() is called):

Yeah, I was just wanting to make sure you did have the session_start(); The expiry time didn't change did it?

Does the second page reside on a separate subdomain (hint: http://mysite.com is not the same site as http://www.mysite.com) or directory?

Have you double-checked the server's time/timezone settings to ensure they are accurate?
