Need a PHP guru tp help with session issues

OK so I am using a 3rd party flash software that kills my current session (sfwupload)

My question is how can one restore a session ?

For example I have page 1 and page 2

In page 1 I am logged in but going to page 2 will kill the session. Sooooo I store the session id by :

id=session_id();

and then I go to page 2 with something like page2?myoldsessionid=id

On page two when I try to rebuild my session with :

session_id($_GET['id'];
session_start();

I still cant get my old session back.

session files are usually stored in the tmp folder, and I think garbage collection gets them after a certain time. If your other ap is doing session_destroy(), obviously it's toast.

Here is the coding I use at the head of most of my pages to SPECIFY a session id (i.e. session file) if desired, or create one otherwise:

if(strlen($sessionid)) session_id($sessionid);
session_start();
$sessionid ? '' : $sessionid = session_id();

( in your code, you should probably have:
session_id($_GET['myoldsessionid']);
according to what your query string is )

NOTE that this method even works going between domain names - which is handy when passing to a shopping cart etc. - aas long as it's on the same server.
