need help regarding sending form to email

Hi guys, i have some problem here. i tried to create a form script whereby it will straight away send a mail to my email address once the submit is clicked. But it doesn't work. im a newbie in scripting, so hope u guys can help me.

i have tried uploading my 2 script on geocities for testing purposes

this is the problem i encounter:

when i click on the submit button, it will be directed into a blank page. I think its because i didn't direct the sendmail.php to a confirmation script.(correct me if im wrong). But it did not send to my email. can anyone help me to solve this problem. is it because of my script??

you can test that email was actually sent alright
and that your script/hosting mailing setup works'
by using:

	
$success = mail("abc@def.com","testing", $Egold, "testing");

if($success)
    exit ('your message was sent, thank you.');
else
    exit ('there was a problem to send your message. <br />Please try again later. Thank you');

I was preparing to post a similar question, but did a search and found this solution. Thanks! Is there any way to go a little further and find out what's wrong, like you can do with mysql_error() used to define what went awry with a mysql_query?

not that I remember now.
If was not sent, you have to check:
1. that you actually can use mail() ... some free hostings disable this for free acounts
to avoid spammers create a lot of free accounts just for spamming people
2. that you have added the variables mail() function needs
and that they are minmally complete. That is if there is some important Header missing
maybe your email cant be accpted
[man]mail[/man] ... 4 arguments to this function
This point requires often that you see if all required data fields were SUBMITTED by The <form> for Contact etc.
If Reply-mail is empty for example, how will you get into contact?

[man]phpinfo[/man] to see what mail settings your host use ( see local setting, left column)
