Can someone please tell me whatts wrong with the below code, it doesnt seem to work for me. 🙁

Start by adding the following lines to the top of your script, in order to make sure you see as much debug info as possible. (You'll want to delete it in the production version, or at least set display_errors to off.)

Hard to tell whats wrong, there seems to be more than one thing. I pointed out some things.

Thanks for your reply, I can understand the sencond error, but I am not sure what I have to do for the first one.

I think überfuzz made a typographical error: session_start(), not start_session(), is correct, but the point about no output before that still stands.
