Hello all,

How can I control the session time? for example limit it to a 1 hour session?

You can control the session cookie lifetime at the script level via the [man]session_set_cookie_params/man function, but it must be called before session_start() is called on any relevant page.

You can control the cookie's lifetime site-wide in php.ini or per directory via .htaccess by modifying the session.cookie_lifetime value. (Also take a look at the various session.gc_* settings, which affect when session data gets cleaned up on the sever.)

thanks for your help.

I've checked my php.ini and the session.cookie_lifetime = 0
which means that the session is alive till I close the browser. But still it seems that I am loosing the session after certain time.

Any ideas?

Look at the session.gc_maxlifetime value.

PS: Note that changing this may not help if other PHP session scripts with a shorter lifetime use the same directory for storing session data, in which case you may also need to set up a separate session data directory and have your site's settings point to it via the session.save_path setting.
