Collapse/Expand & Save Location of Window

Ok I am working on a page that has given me lots of grey hairs
It is a webcam site of our community and I have made it so you can move around each webcame via javascript

But i want to take it 2 steps closer to the final completion

1st thing, I want to be able to collapse the window by clicking on a button
but all i have tried only collapses the content inside the window

2nd thing
i am wondering if via cookies if i can save the window location for next time
