Current_Timestamp and substring

Hi,

I use current_timestamp to insert to mysql db’s datetime column and it shows properly.
The format is 2008-04-17 22:16:44.
How can I edit it to be 20080417221644 which does not has – space and : in php?
Do I need to use substring()?
